A street in Maputo. Uptown, Polana, they are doing some rebuilding in a shop nearby.
Well, I'm here now. Maputo... I am a bit surprised but happy that it feels like.. home. I took a small walk around the neighbourhood with Nesim, a Swedish student doing the same thing as I am but totally different (yes, she got an MFS as well..), and it was... nice. The town, the streets, the smells, none of it is new but wellknown, friendly.. It feels like home. I went to the embassy today, my former workplace when I was here last time, as an intern, and it felt nice that people knew my name, It feels nice to have friends here, people that are happy to see you again, people that are easy to hang out with, people that open their homes for you (thank you sooo much Joanna!!!).
Yes. Home. I realized that Maputo has a special place in my heart. But I also remember being really tired of it when I left the last time so... But right now it feels great. I am enjoying the romantic feeling I have for Maputo right now. So great that I will be staying here for 5 ½ months.
So, family and friends, I am fine. Just fine.
A quite typical view in Maputo, nice old house just left to fall into decay. This is one of my favourites.
A tuc-tuc. Yes we have them too! :D
